Comet's "Storage Template" feature lets you set up default storage options, making it easier to assign storage when creating a new "Storage Vault" for users.
Instead of setting up a unique user and bucket for each user in the EU DataVault console before adding it to your Comet Server, you can use a "Storage Template" to do it automatically.
Using the EU DataVault Management Console API key with Comet's "Storage Template" feature will automatically create an EU DataVault storage account and bucket in EU DataVault with your Management Console API key.
If you're looking for instructions on how to add a Storage Vault to Comet Backup via a Comet-Hosted or Self-Hosted Comet server version older than 24.5.0, please refer to this guide.
Prerequisites
- You have a Distributor's Partner admin account which can create a Storage Account.
- An admin account to a Comet Server (Comet documentation)
- Your Comet server software version is 24.5.0 and higher.
Setting Up Storage as a Template in Comet Server
- Create an API key in EU DataVault Management Console. Save it somewhere.
- Log in to your Comet Server and navigate to Settings. Click Authentication under the Roles section.
- Find Storage Templates and hit +Add

- Fill the description and Select Impossible Cloud (Partner API) or Impossible Cloud (Partner API) (Object Lock) type, the Impossible Cloud options are compatible with EU DataVault storage. The (Object Lock) type provides an additional layer of protection by preventing backup files from being overwritten or deleted.
-
Paste your EU DataVault API key created on the Step 1 of this guide into the API Key field.
If you have selected Impossible Cloud (Partner API) (Object Lock), ensure that the number of day(s) is not 0.
This number determines the minimal number of days when your data cannot be deleted or overwritten.
- Configure the storage quota and rebranding if needed.
- (Optional) If you have selected Impossible Cloud (Partner API) (Object Lock), configure the minimal number of day when your data cannot be deleted or overwritten.
- Add a user in Comet Server. Select the storage template you've just created from the Storage drop-down menu:
Result
The Comet Server user that has a preconfigured EU DataVault storage template doesn't need to create an EU DataVault Storage Account and manage it. Once they've installed a Comet Backup client, they can simply start backing up their data to EU DataVault.
